Norrie turned professional in June 2017. He earned his first ATP main-draw victory as Eastbourne, over Horacio Zeballos, which was his first win over a top-50 player. He won his debut Davis Cup match in 2018, against then-world No. 23 Roberto Bautista-Agut.

At the 2018 French Open, Norrie gained direct entry into the grand slam at Roland Garros, where he advanced to the second round but lost to French No. 1 Lucas Pouille in five sets in round two.

Later in 2021, Norrie made his fifth final at the ATP 250 San Diego, before losing to Casper Ruud in the championship match. He became the first Briton to win the title in Indian Wells at the BNP Paribas Open in October last year. He earned the title of British No. 1 at the end of the season.
