Doug Hill, a longtime TV meteorologist who worked for more than three decades in D.C., died Monday, 22 November, according to ABC7. He spent 33 years in Washingtonians’ living rooms, guiding people through beautiful sunny days and harsh storms, winning their trust, and becoming like family. He retired as a chief meteorologist from ABC7 in 2017.

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Lawrence Douglas Hill was born on 29 July 1950 under the star sign Leo. The 71-year-old retired meteorologist was American by nationality and belonged to the Caucasian ethnicity. He graduated from Townson State College.

Hill took his last breath on 22 November 2021. He died in North Carolina, where he had moved with his beloved wife after his retirement from ABC7. He was 71.

The cause of Hill’s death hasn’t been revealed yet. All that is known is that he had a short illness. His family has asked for privacy and hasn’t commented on his death and funeral yet.

Initially, Hill served for the United States Air Force for four years mostly at Andrews Air Force Base. He then served as a police officer for Prince George’s Country for six years.

Hill got his start in meteorology at WWBT-TV in Richmond, Virginia, where he worked as the weekend weatherman. After that, he spent four and a half years in Detroit before returning to Washington, D.C. with CBS station WUSA in 1984. He worked at WUSA for 16 years before switching to ABC7 (WJLA).

Hill retired as a Chief Meteorologist from WJLA-TV on 15 September 2017. He was also a radio personality on a Christian radio station, WGTS 91.9 FM. For his broadcast excellence, Hill was honoured with a Washington Emmy Award, and he was also awarded the “Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society.
