Harry Redknapp

Harry James Redknapp is an English football manager and former player. Throughout his 34-year-long managerial career, he managed  AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United,  Portsmouth,  Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City. At the end of the 2009-10 season, he had guided Tottenham into the UEFA Champions League.

Redknapp secured a spot in the Tottenham Spurs’ youth team at the age of 11. He played for the Spurs from 1958 to 1962 before joining West Ham United’s youth team in 1962.

Redknapp was a member of West Ham’s junior team until 1965 when he was promoted to the senior squad. His time with the club ended in 1972, and he then moved to Bournemouth, where he spent four seasons (1972-76). In 1976, Redknapp played one match for Brentford before moving to the United States to work as a player coach for the NASL’s Seattle Sounders. After a final appearance for Bournemouth in 1982, he announced his retirement from his playing career.

Redknapp was the manager of Bournemouth from 1983 to 1992 and was a key figure in the club’s victory in the inaugural Associate Members’ Cup in 1984. During his seven-year tenure at West Ham (1994-2001), the team played 327 games, winning 121 of them. His first spell at Portsmouth (2002-04) did not achieve the results he or the club’s officials hoped for. He only stayed there for two seasons before resigning.
