DJ and radio presenter Annie Mac is the host of BBC Radio 1’s electronic dance music broadcast, The Mash Up, one of the country’s most popular shows. She became a sought-after performer in the UK’s trendiest clubs and at Europe’s largest festivals after gaining international acclaim for playing cutting-edge music on her radio program.

The Irish DJ and radio host relocated to Belfast to pursue a degree in English Literature at Queens University. During her stay there, she went to Shine, a Belfast club that introduced her to dance music and ignited a lifetime interest in it.

During Greg James’ Radio 1 Breakfast Show, she made the heartbreaking announcement live on air. Clara Amfo, a fellow Radio 1 DJ, will take over Annie’s Future Sounds show in July, while Danny Howard will take over Mac’s Radio 1 Dance Party show in August.

Mac is married to her husband, Toddla T, since 2018. He is also a DJ by profession.
They got married in a ceremony in April 2018 at a registration office, with Mac subsequently explaining:
”Two years ago today we got married, except for it wasn’t the main wedding so we didn’t really think about it. I picked the flowers from the garden that morning, and we got a taxi there and we got welcomed by the loveliest woman and we waited in a hall for a bit. Everything was wood-paneled and grand. Just before the ceremony, we were separated. So I had to wait in a room by myself and suddenly it all felt very real and there was a picture of the queen on the wall, she was staring at me, and it all felt a bit intimate and intense.”
As for the ‘main wedding,’ they held the ceremony in May 2018 with Mac sharing a picture on her Instagram kissing Toddla T.
Their first child was born in May 2013, with their second arriving in January 2017. Both of her children are in school, so she needs more time to see them in the evening. But because of her busy work schedule, she is not able to do that. And that is also the reason she is leaving Radio 1.
