However, the actor has also faced some serious allegations. He was alleged to have been involved with underage trans girls in the past. The allegation was made by trans activist Mariah Lopez Ebony. Although Malik denied the allegation, it did cause him to lose his position as spokesman for Phi Beta Sigma.

Malik was previously married to his actress wife Cat Wilson. The pair tied the knot in 2003 and separated three years later.
