Robert Oberst

Robert Oberst is an American professional strongman and World Record Holder. Since his debut in 2013, he has been a mainstay at the World’s Strongest Man competition, failing to qualify only once in 2017. Besides, he held the American log lift record of 465lb/211kg for four years.

Originally from Santa Cruz, California, Robert Oberst was born on December 20, 1984, under the star sign Sagittarius. The 40-year-old strongman is American by nationality and belongs to the white ethnic group. He attended Aptos High School and played collegiate football at Western Oregon University, where he majored in history.

After graduating from the university in 2008, Oberst gave the NFL a shot but couldn’t cut. He then began working as a bouncer in a nightclub, where one of his coworkers introduced him to the world of Strongman competitions.

Oberst received his Pro-Card after only four months of training. In 2012, he came out as the winner at the San Jose Git Expo and Dallas Europa. The same year, he finished in the third position at America’s Strongest Man competition. He also had a great year in 2013, winning Odd Haugen’s US Open MAS Wrestling Championship and Giants Live Las Vegas.

Although Oberst hasn’t won any competition since 2013, he was the runner-up at the 2013 and 2014 America’s Strongest Man competition. In 2015, he finished in the third position at Arnold Strongman Classic Australia. Additionally, he ended up in the eighth position at the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018.

Oberst also represented the USA in the 2019 and 2020 World’s Strongest Man but couldn’t win the title. The American Monster has earned a colossal net worth from his Strongman career. As of 2024, Oberst has reportedly a net worth of around $1.5 million.

Married, Wife, and Children

Oberst is currently in a relationship with Meghan Nesgoda. His girlfriend works as a sales associate for Independence Indoor Shooting.

Oberst met Nesgoda at a Strongman event in 2017. The two instantly hit it off and eventually initiated their relationship. Their love for each other can be seen on their social media handles.

Additionally, Oberst was previously married to Kristin Oberst. He tied the knot with Kristin in 2012 at Hanford, California. The married couple seemed to be inseparable as Oberst always mentioned his wife as the major source of inspiration while giving interviews or winning speeches.

On 08 September 2015, Oberst and his now ex-wife, Kristin, welcomed their first child, son Atlas Bear Oberst. Everything seemed to be running smoothly until the couple stopped making public appearances in late 2016. Though Oberst hasn’t announced the separation or divorce from Kristin yet, he seems to have moved on with a new girlfriend as seen on his social handles.

Parents, Siblings, and Family

Oberst comes from a huge family. He was born to parents Kathy and Jim Oberst. He was born as the eighth child of ten kids of his parents. His father, who served in the Navy died in December 2020. Meanwhile, his mother is a breast cancer survivor.

Oberst has nine siblings, four brothers- Dave, Mike, Sean, and James – and five sisters- Wendy, Amanda, Julia, Emily, and Jamie. At the age of 16, the strongman had to endure the divorce of his parents.
